The Schattenburg Feldkirch, the landmark of the city, was built in the 12th century. It served Hugo I from Montfort to secure the city and traffic over the passes to the south and the east and gives us today a view of the world in the early 16th century.
The castle walls, the beautiful castle tower, the ancient areas and the unique inner court provide for a unique medieval atmosphere.
These provide for the physical well being of visitors in the cosy stylish bars of the Schattenburg.
In addition in the Schattenburg is an impressive local history museum. The former areas of the bailiwick administration today accommodate a truly unique collection of Gothic art. In the donjon, there is a rich collection of weapons to be visited. In addition, important examples from Feldkirch‘s past are kept here.
